UP athlete Labita shatters records in UAAP athletics

Alhryan Labita of the University of the Philippines (UP) set new records in both the men's 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash at the UAAP Season 86 athletics tournament.

Labita defended his 100m title with a time of 10.57 seconds, breaking the previous record in the heats with 10.66 seconds, and then won the 200m dash in 21.42 seconds, breaking a 17-year-old record.

He further solidified his dominance by winning gold medals in the 4x100m relay and the 400m dash, and ultimately the 400m hurdles, bringing his total to four gold medals.

Ed Deliña also contributed significantly by winning the men's discus throw with a new meet record of 47.28 meters, surpassing his own record from the previous season.

UP currently leads in team standings with 245 points, narrowly ahead of National University with 240.5 points.

Ernie Calipay of FEU established a new UAAP record in the high jump, clearing 2.05 meters.
