University presidents back Robredo-Pangilinan tandem amid education crisis

Top university presidents and school heads have renewed their support for the tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan.

The group, Schools for Leni-Kiko, cited the worsening education crisis and the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic as reasons for their endorsement.

They emphasized the need for a "hands-on" leader to address the pressing needs of the education sector.

Prominent education leaders from Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, Adamson University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, PHINMA Education, and the University of Baguio are among those who have expressed their support.

The group praised Robredo's education platform, which includes increasing the education budget to 6 percent of the gross national product.

Robredo's plans also aim to relieve teachers of administrative burdens and expand educational access through scholarships and voucher programs.

Ensuring job opportunities for all graduates is another key component of the Vice President's education agenda.
