UE fencing teams bag another UAAP sweep

The University of the East (UE) fencing teams achieved a dominant sweep for the third consecutive season in the UAAP.

The UE men's team secured their 10th consecutive championship title, while the women's team clinched their third straight tiara.

UE's high school squads also extended their impressive championship streaks, with the boys' team winning their 12th title and the girls' team their 10th.

Head coach Amatov Canlas expressed happiness over retaining the championships despite the pressure and the improving competition.

In the women's division, Queen Dalmacio, the eventual three-peat MVP, led the UE team to victory by winning individual titles in sabre, foil, and epee.

The men's team, after winning the epee team gold and Collei Felipe's foil individual title, sealed their championship with a foil team victory against De La Salle University.

Collei Felipe, the back-to-back MVP, was instrumental in the men's foil team's win, contributing to UE's third gold of the season.

The junior fencers also contributed to UE's success, with Louis Shoemaker winning an individual foil gold and the boys' foil team securing a decisive victory.

Opao Cantantan and Aubrey Fernandez were key individual performers for the UE girls' junior team, winning multiple gold medals.

UE's Aurelle Obzunar and Shareen Beltran were recognized as Rookies of the Year in the men's and women's divisions, respectively.
