UE men's fencing eyes 10th straight UAAP title after winning epee gold

University of the East (UE) is one step closer to a tenth straight UAAP men's fencing championship after winning the epee team gold.

The UE men's team is seeking its 10th consecutive championship, and another victory in the team foil will secure it.

The quartet of RJ Perez, Aurell Obnuzar, Ramil Encilan Jr., and reigning MVP Collei Felipe defeated University of the Philippines' Dale Gonzales, Enzo Malvar, Hijo Tan, and Dexter Ramos, 45-37, in the epee team gold medal final.

Tournament host University of Santo Tomas (UST) is in second place with a 2-2-0 tally, while De La Salle University (DLSU) is third with a 1-1-3 tally.

On the women's side, UE's Eytria Olarte helped the four-man foil squad to another golden finish against University of the Philippines (UP), winning 45-29.

The Junior Red Warriors have virtually secured their 12th straight Boys' title after winning gold in both the epee and sabre team events.

The Junior Lady Fencers of De La Salle Zobel (DLSZ) pulled off an upset against the Junior Lady Warriors in the foil team event, winning 45-44.
