Typhoon Ulysses toll in Bicol reaches 6 dead, P2.4B damage

The death toll in Bicol from Typhoon Ulysses has risen to six, with five fatalities reported in Camarines Norte and one in Camarines Sur.

At least 25 injured and 13 missing persons were also reported in Camarines Norte.

The amount of damage to agriculture, irrigation, infrastructure, and the education sector in Bicol has initially reached PHP2.4 billion.

The Department of Agriculture in Bicol reported PHP96.5 million worth of agricultural crops destroyed, affecting 2,195 hectares.

The National Irrigation Administration reported initial damage of PHP119 million.

Nationwide, 67 fatalities have been confirmed, with 21 wounded and 13 missing.

Over 2 million individuals were affected by the typhoon, and assistance worth over P15 million has been extended.

President Rodrigo Duterte cited climate change as a cause of severe weather disturbances.
