Typhoon Rolly weakens to tropical storm after 4 landfalls

Typhoon Rolly, formerly a super typhoon, has weakened into a tropical storm over the West Philippine Sea.

PAGASA reported that Rolly made four landfalls in Luzon: Bato, Catanduanes; Tiwi, Albay; San Narciso, Quezon; and Lobo, Batangas.

When it first made landfall as a super typhoon, Rolly had maximum sustained winds of 225 km/h and gustiness of up to 280 km/h.

As of Sunday evening, Rolly has weakened with maximum sustained winds of 125 km/h and gustiness of up to 170 km/h.

The storm is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Tuesday morning.

Signal No. 3 has been lifted, with Signal No. 2 still hoisted over western portions of Cavite and Batangas, and northern Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island.

Areas under Signal No. 1 include Metro Manila, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga, Bataan, Bulacan, and portions of Oriental Mindoro, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, and Zambales.
