Typhoon Marce affects families in Northern Luzon, no casualties reported

Typhoon Marce, internationally known as Yinxing, has affected a significant number of families in Northern Luzon.

In La Union, 105 families or 257 individuals in Bangar town preemptively evacuated due to the possible effects of the typhoon, staying at the town's covered court.

In Pangasinan, 18 families from San Fabian town also evacuated as a precautionary measure and were assisted by the local government unit.

Both provinces are on red alert status, with rescuers and equipment on standby.

The DSWD has prepared 28,787 family food packs worth PHP20.6 million and 14,944 non-food items worth PHP37.3 million for the Ilocos Region.

The original report mentioned that 7,233 families across 239 barangays in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera regions were affected, with 3,958 families in evacuation centers and 960 families outside.

No casualties or damages were reported as of the latest update.

The DSWD Region II had previously distributed PHP532,460 worth of relief goods and maintained PHP139,031,945 in relief resources, with an additional PHP3 million in standby funds.
