Two suspects arrested in Isabela for transporting P26M worth of marijuana

Police operatives in Isabela arrested two men, identified as alias "JD" and alias "Rick," both residents of Mandaluyong City, for transporting over P26 million worth of marijuana bricks and leaves.

The suspects were apprehended in Centro II, Mallig, Isabela after evading a Comelec checkpoint in Barangay Nuesa, Roxas, Isabela and leading police on a two-hour chase.

During the pursuit, the suspects' speeding black SUV hit the checkpoint barricades and a police patrol car.

Authorities seized 222 bricks of dried marijuana leaves valued at P26,640,000 and 19 rolled marijuana leaves worth P2,280, totaling P26,282,280.

A hand grenade was also recovered from the suspects' vehicle.

The suspects, described as a college student and a call center agent, and a kitchen staff, will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and illegal possession of explosive.
