Two LPAs form east of PH, habagat to bring rains

Two low-pressure areas (LPAs) have developed east of the Philippines, with one located within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and another outside.

The LPA within the PAR is situated approximately 440 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora, while the other is 2,145 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.

The southwest monsoon, or habagat, is expected to continue bringing heavy rains to most of southern Luzon, the Visayas, and western Mindanao throughout the week.

Heavy to intense rainfall may affect northern Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Aklan, Antique, and Negros Occidental from Sunday to Monday.

Moderate to heavy rainfall is also anticipated in several other areas, including parts of Southern Luzon and the Visayas.

From Monday to Wednesday, heavy to intense rainfall is projected to persist in northern Palawan, Aklan, Antique, and Negros Occidental.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) is monitoring these weather systems for potential development into tropical cyclones.
