TS Ramil kills 5, including 2 children, in Quezon house collapse

A family of five, including children aged two and 11, were killed in Pitogo, Quezon, when a giant palm tree fell on their house made of light materials during Tropical Storm Ramil.

Governor Angelina Tan expressed grief over the incident, noting that a sixth family member survived the tragedy.

The victims were asleep when the tree crashed into their home early Sunday morning as the storm passed through the southern part of Luzon.

In Capiz, a 23-year-old vlogger also died after slipping and being swept away by a creek.

Tropical Storm Ramil, with international name Ramil, headed out to sea on Sunday after affecting the Philippines.

The storm prompted at least 47,000 people to evacuate to temporary shelters in southeast Luzon.

The weather service warned of possible coastal flooding and landslides as rain continued to batter Luzon.
