Tropical Storm Kristine intensifies, Signal No. 2 raised over Catanduanes

Tropical Depression Kristine has intensified into a Tropical Storm, prompting PAGASA to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over Catanduanes.

Areas under Signal No. 1 now include extensive parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, with specific locations like Ilocos Norte, Metro Manila, and Dinagat Islands included.

Under Signal No. 2, winds of greater than 62 km/h and up to 88 km/h may be expected in at least 24 hours.

Meanwhile, areas under Signal No. 1 can expect winds of 39-61 km/h for at least 36 hours or intermittent rains within the same period.

As of Tuesday morning, Kristine maintained its strength and was moving westward.

PAGASA indicated that the highest wind signal that may be hoisted is still Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3, due to the possibility of rapid intensification.
