Severe Tropical Storm Emong maintains strength; Signal No. 3 raised over parts of Pangasinan, La Union

Severe Tropical Storm Emong maintained its strength on Thursday morning with maximum sustained winds of 110 kph and gusts of up to 135 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 is raised over the northern portion of Pangasinan and the western portion of La Union.

Signal No. 2 is in effect for Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, the rest of La Union, western Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, and central Pangasinan.

The new article states that Signal No. 2 now includes the western portion of Nueva Vizcaya.

Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, western and central Isabela, the rest of Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, the rest of Apayao, the rest of Pangasinan, northern and central Zambales, Tarlac, and western and central Nueva Ecija.

Wind speeds ranging from 89 km/h to 117 km/h are expected within 18 hours under Signal No. 3, potentially unroofing or destroying most houses made of light materials.
