TS Carina enhances Habagat, brings severe winds and rains to Luzon

Tropical Storm Carina, internationally named Gaemi, remains almost stationary over the Philippine Sea, enhancing the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

As of Sunday afternoon, the storm was located 365 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h and gusts of up to 115 km/h.

PAGASA has not raised wind signals in any part of the country but has not ruled out the possibility of hoisting Wind Signal No. 1 over extreme Northern Luzon.

The storm is expected to bring severe winds and heavy rains over some portions of eastern Luzon.

Its outer circulation may cause heavy to intense rains over Cagayan, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands until Tuesday.

Moderate to heavy rains may also affect the rest of mainland Cagayan and northeastern Isabela.

Carina is expected to enhance the southwest monsoon, bringing strong to gale-force gusts over Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Samar, and northern Samar from July 21 to 22.

From July 22 to 23, these gusty conditions are forecast for Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Visayas.

From July 23 to 24, the gusty conditions are expected to extend to Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Visayas.
