Tropical Depression Wilma makes landfall in Eastern Samar, Signal No. 1 raised over Luzon and Visayas

Tropical Depression Wilma made landfall in Dolores, Eastern Samar, and is currently in the waters of Almagro, Samar.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gustiness of up to 60 kph, moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.

Signal No. 1 has been raised over several areas in Luzon and the Visayas, including Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, parts of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, Northern Samar, parts of Eastern Samar and Samar, Biliran, parts of Leyte and Cebu, parts of Negros Occidental, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and parts of Antique.

PAGASA warns that strong winds with minimal to minor impacts on life and property are expected within the next 36 hours in these Signal No. 1 areas.

Wilma is forecast to traverse Southern Luzon and the Visayas before emerging over the Sulu Sea.

The weather bureau predicts Wilma will likely remain a tropical depression until it weakens into a low-pressure area over the Sulu Sea.
