TD Wilma maintains strength, 19 areas under TCWS No. 1

Tropical Depression Wilma remained almost stationary over the coastal waters of Can-avid, Eastern Samar, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 is raised over 19 areas in Luzon and Visayas.

In Luzon, these include Sorsogon, Masbate, Romblon, parts of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, and Northern Palawan, along with its islands.

In the Visayas, TCWS No. 1 covers Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, parts of Leyte and Cebu, Northern Negros Oriental and Occidental, Guimaras, Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, and Antique, including their respective islands.

PAGASA forecasts Wilma to make landfall in Eastern Samar or Northern Samar on Saturday, December 6, traverse the Visayas until Sunday, December 7, then approach Northern Palawan by Monday, December 8.

Moderate to intense rain may persist, and floods remain possible in areas that will receive the most rainfall.
