TD Verbena makes landfall in Surigao del Sur, crosses into Bohol and Cebu

Tropical Depression Verbena made its first landfall in Bayabas, Surigao del Sur, and later crossed into Agusan del Norte before making a second landfall in Jagna, Bohol.

As of Tuesday morning, Verbena's center was estimated to be near Pinamungahan, Cebu after making landfall over Talisay, Cebu.

The tropical depression is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Thirty areas across Luzon and Visayas remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, including Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, northern and central Palawan, mainland Masbate, Antique, and Aklan.

Verbena is forecast to move towards Negros Island and is expected to cross the Visayas and northern Palawan before exiting into the West Philippine Sea by Wednesday morning.

The tropical depression may intensify into a tropical storm before reaching northern Palawan or once over the West Philippine Sea.
