Terrafirma Dyip begin PBA season with win amid franchise uncertainty

The Terrafirma Dyip began their PBA Season 49 campaign with a victory over Phoenix, 95-87, in what might be their final conference as a franchise.

Sophomore Louie Sangalang, along with veterans Stanley Pringle and Terrence Romeo, spearheaded the Dyip's strong performance.

Sangalang scored 10 points in the first quarter, and Pringle contributed nine in the second, helping Terrafirma establish a halftime lead of 49-43.

Terrence Romeo then erupted for 14 points in the third quarter, extending their advantage to 79-59.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the team's potential sale to Starhorse Shipping Lines, acting coach Raymond Tiongco urged his players to remain positive and aim for a winning campaign.

In another game, the defending champion Meralco Bolts secured a narrow 91-89 win against Converge.

Chris Newsome was the hero for Meralco, hitting a crucial triple to tie the game and then the go-ahead jumper with just 0.8 seconds remaining.
