Meralco begins PBA PH Cup title defense vs Converge

Defending champions Meralco begin their PBA Philippine Cup title defense against Converge on Friday, April 4, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Bolts, who defeated multi-titled San Miguel Beer 4-2 on June 16, 2024, are determined to keep the coveted Philippine Cup crown.

Coach Luigi Trillo highlighted the importance of the team's support crew stepping up, especially with key players having struggled with injuries this season.

Reigning Finals MVP Chris Newsome, who hit the game-winning basket last year, is expected to lead Meralco.

Meralco faces a grueling opening slate with four games in the next nine days, including matchups against Terrafirma, SMB, and Phoenix.

Converge will be a confident opponent looking to spoil Meralco's opening day, with the game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
