LPA east of Eastern Visayas develops into Tropical Depression Enteng

A low pressure area (LPA) east of Eastern Visayas has developed into Tropical Depression Enteng, PAGASA announced on Sunday morning.

As of 8:00 AM Sunday, Enteng was located 120 kilometers north northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, moving northwest at 30 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The tropical depression has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 55 km/h.

Enteng is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by Monday, September 2, and a severe tropical storm by Thursday, September 5.

PAGASA warns that Enteng may make landfall in the Bicol-Eastern Visayas area within 48 hours and could cause moderate to intense rains, leading to floods and landslides.

Afterwards, beginning Tuesday, September 3, it is projected to move erratically while near or over the Luzon Strait.

This marks the fifth tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year.
