Severe Tropical Storm Enteng brings heavy rainfall, gale force gusts; 12 dead

Severe Tropical Storm Enteng is now packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph, and is located 165 km west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is raised over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, northern portion of La Union, and Abra.

Gale force gusts due to the enhanced southwest monsoon are also forecast on Tuesday in various areas including Ilocos Region, CAR, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, Zambales, Bataan, Aurora, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island, and Northern Samar.

Heavy rainfall is forecast in Ilocos Region and Abra, while the enhanced southwest monsoon would also cause moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon, especially along the western portion, over the next three days.

At least 12 people have reportedly died due to landslides and flooding caused by Enteng in the Visayas and Central Luzon.
