Taguig LGU says first Delta variant case an OFW
Taguig City has confirmed one case of the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2.
Clarence Santos, head of the Taguig Safe City Task Force, stated that the case was reported by the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit.
As of July 12, Taguig has identified 73 COVID-19 variant cases, comprising one Delta, 26 Alpha, and 46 Beta variants.
The Department of Health clarified that the detected Delta variant case in Taguig is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) with permanent residence in the city, not a local infection.
The Taguig government emphasized that this individual never entered the city while infected with the variant and remained in quarantine until recovery.
