CDO Rep asks IATF for experts amid Delta variant cases

Cagayan de Oro Representative Rufus Rodriguez has urged the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to dispatch a team of experts to the city.

This urgent request comes after the Philippines confirmed its first 11 local cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant, with five cases originating from Cagayan de Oro.

Rodriguez emphasized the need for expert assistance to implement appropriate measures and prevent a potential outbreak of the Delta variant in the city.

He also requested an immediate reallocation of more vaccines to Cagayan de Oro, highlighting it as the current 'battleground' for the Delta variant.

Earlier, the IATF placed Cagayan de Oro, along with Iloilo province and its city, under enhanced community quarantine until July 31.

The lawmaker also called for strict enforcement of quarantine measures and urged residents to adhere to health protocols and stay home to collectively combat the pandemic.
