Taal Volcano records 64 quakes amid ongoing unrest

Taal Volcano recorded 64 volcanic earthquakes and five tremor episodes in the past 24 hours, indicating continued low-level volcanic unrest.

These seismic events suggest ongoing magmatic activity beneath the volcano.

This follows a pattern of increased seismic activity, with 53 earthquakes and 13 tremors on April 29, 37 earthquakes and eight tremors on April 27, and 56 earthquakes and 14 tremors on April 26.

Phivolcs reported 126 volcanic earthquakes and 34 tremor episodes between April 8 and April 26.

Despite the uptick in seismic activity, Taal Volcano remains under Alert Level 1, signifying low-level unrest and the possibility of a phreatomagmatic eruption.
