The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported multiple unscheduled power interruptions across Luzon on Sunday night as Super Typhoon Uwan made landfall.
The power outages affected parts of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pampanga, Baguio City, Benguet, Zambales, and Mountain Province.
These power interruptions began shortly after Super Typhoon Uwan made its landfall over Dinalungan, Aurora at 9:10 p.m. on Sunday.
Several tripping incidents on various 69kV and 23kV lines maintained by different electric cooperatives were cited as the causes for the outages, including the La Trinidad-Sablan (Benguet) 69kV line and the Bauang-San Fabia 69kV line.
Affected areas included substations managed by ISECO, LUELCO, SFELAPCO, PELCO II, BENECO, and ZAMECO I.
As of Monday, the entire Baguio City continues to suffer a blackout due to repairs on the La Trinidad-Sablan (Benguet) 69kV line, affecting all service areas of Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO).
Beneco work crews have been inspecting power lines and assisting city workers in removing trees toppled by Uwan.
