Converge routs Meralco, clinches 3rd consecutive win

Converge defeated Meralco 105-97 in the 2024 PBA Governors' Cup, with Alec Stockton's performance crucial in securing the win.

Stockton took over down the stretch, scoring nine of his team's last 11 points in the final minutes to pull away from Meralco.

He finished with a double-double of 27 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists, scoring 12 points in the fourth quarter.

New import Jalen Jones also contributed significantly with 32 points and 10 rebounds, though he took 34 shots in his debut.

Jones took over the spot of original import Scotty Hopson, who was relegated to the reserve list due to a leg injury.

The victory marked Converge's third consecutive win, improving their record to 5-4 and allowing them to overtake Magnolia for third place in Group A.

Meralco fell to 6-3 with the loss but remained in second place in the group.

Converge is eager to prove themselves this conference after a forgettable campaign last season where they finished 12th with a 2-9 record.
