SPMC admits 2 new COVID-19 PUIs

The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City has admitted two new persons under investigation (PUIs) for possible coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Both new PUIs are Filipinos with recent travel history abroad who began exhibiting symptoms of the virus.

Throat swab tests have been conducted on the patients and sent to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for analysis, with results expected by Friday.

SPMC Chief of Clinics Dr. Ricardo Audan confirmed that the two patients are currently stable while under observation in the isolation facility.

Dr. Audan also noted that SPMC has previously handled around 20 PUIs who were discharged and tested negative for COVID-19, expressing hope for similar negative results for the current patients.
