San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has significantly ramped up its relief efforts for provinces devastated by Typhoon Odette, with total donations reaching PHP35 million and its fuel subsidiary Petron Corp. restoring most of its damaged service stations.
SMC president and CEO Ramon S. Ang reported that the company's continued aid includes PHP5 million in additional food donations distributed through partner organizations and its businesses, following an initial PHP30 million in food aid.
Petron Corp. has made significant progress in repairing and reopening nearly all of its damaged service stations, which are crucial for restoring business operations, transportation, and supporting relief efforts in the affected regions.
SMC is also donating and delivering approximately 24,000 liters of water from its Bulacan Bulk Water Project to various communities in the Visayas and Mindanao, facilitated by partners like the MWSS, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy, a logistics partner, and NGOs.
Various SMC facilities in the typhoon-hit areas have conducted their own relief operations and are providing temporary water access to neighboring communities and critical facilities.
SMC's extensive relief operations have reached numerous provinces, including Southern Leyte, Cebu, and many others across the Visayas and Mindanao, through collaborations with local government units, the military, and non-profit organizations.
The company also partnered with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for an extended feeding program using its AFP Mobile Kitchen, which distributes hot meals, including donated SMC food products, in Cebu.
SMC's subsidiaries, such as San Miguel Brewery, have also implemented relief operations, distributing goods and providing free water to host communities, including Mandaue City and Talisay City.
Petron has focused on supporting the fuel needs of essential facilities like government agencies, hospitals, power plants, airports, and water facilities, and has also distributed food donations to approximately 3,700 families in Mandaue and Mactan.
