Gordon appeals for more int'l aid for Odette victims

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon has appealed to international Red Cross societies and foreign embassies for increased support to fund relief operations for victims of Typhoon Odette.

Gordon also appealed to the public to continue donating to the PRC fund for Typhoon Odette, emphasizing that the aftermath will be a challenge for months.

PRC volunteers and staff are working tirelessly in Surigao del Norte, distributing water and ready-to-eat meals.

As of Jan.13, the PRC provided 13,621 hot meals and has distributed 253,000 liters of water in Surigao de Norte.

They have distributed more than 55,000 liters of water to various barangays in San Francisco and Surigao City.

PRC has also distributed ready-to-eat meals, blankets, mosquito nets, plastic mats, tarpaulins, and collapsible jerry cans to 405 families in Barangay Honrado.

Gordon emphasized that Typhoon Odette's impact, which affected over 7 million individuals, should not be forgotten and that continued help is crucial for restoring lifelines in the devastated provinces.
