SM Fairview launches PH's largest rooftop solar PV system

SM Supermalls has launched the Philippines' largest rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system at SM Fairview in Quezon City, featuring 6,882 solar modules.

The new 4.3-hectare system has a 3.785-MW peak power capacity and is projected to generate approximately 5,960 MWh of energy annually.

This installation is capable of supplying around 11 percent of the mall's total energy consumption and offsets the release of 4,133 tons of carbon dioxide annually.

The solar PV system at SM Fairview took about a year to complete, with the panel installation taking approximately three months.

SM Prime is pursuing a 'Net Zero 2040' goal and aims to install around 100 megawatts of solar PV capacity in its malls nationwide by the end of the year.

This includes expanding the rooftop solar PV system in SM North EDSA, which was the first Philippine mall to install such a system, with panel installation already completed.
