SM Fairview launches largest rooftop solar power system

SM Supermalls has launched the largest rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system on a commercial building in the country at SM City Fairview, a move that reinforces its commitment to environmental sustainability and corporate resilience.

The new system boasts a capacity of 3.785-Megawatt peak (MWp) and covers 4.3 hectares with 6,882 solar modules, achieving an average annual solar production of up to 5,960-Megawatt-hours (MWh).

This installation is projected to supply 11% of SM City Fairview's annual energy consumption, equivalent to powering the mall's 44 escalators and all its mall and perimeter lights for up to two and a half years.

The system is expected to prevent the release of 4,133 tons of carbon dioxide annually, supporting climate action and a sustainable future for Filipinos.

This initiative is part of SM Prime's broader solar pipeline program, which aims to increase its total rooftop solar capacity to 100-MWp by the end of the year.
