Shear line brings Christmas rains to parts of PH

A shear line is causing rainy weather across Metro Manila, Southern Luzon, and Eastern Visayas this Christmas.

Heavy rainfall warnings are in effect for Camarines Norte (Orange) and several other areas including Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, and Northern Samar (Yellow).

Continuous rains in Quezon, Bicol, and Eastern Visayas over the past two weeks have led to flooding and landslides, with these hazards remaining a threat.

PAGASA warns of potential numerous flooding events in low-lying and urbanized areas, and landslides in susceptible areas.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (Amihan) is bringing chilly weather to Northern and Central Luzon, with light to occasionally moderate rains expected in Cordillera and Cagayan Valley.

Scattered thunderstorms may bring heavy downpours to Visayas and Mindanao later in the day.

The shear line is forecast to shift northward before the weekend, affecting Northern Luzon as the Amihan weakens.
