Nitura sets new UAAP scoring record in losing effort

Adamson University's Shaina Nitura set a new UAAP women's volleyball record with 38 points in a single game, surpassing Alyssa Valdez's and Sisi Rondina's previous record of 35 points.

Despite Nitura's historic performance, Adamson University lost to the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons in a five-set match, spoiling her record-setting game.

Nitura's individual brilliance was not enough to secure a win, as Adamson concluded the first round with a 2-5 win-loss record and their fourth consecutive defeat.

Both Nitura and her head coach, JP Yude, declined to comment on the game and her record-setting performance after the loss.

UP head coach Benson Bocboc acknowledged Nitura's scoring potential, stating that she is capable of achieving even higher point totals.

Alyssa Valdez expressed her pleasure in seeing Nitura break her record and hopes the young player stays hungry to learn more about volleyball.
