Severe Tropical Storm Verbena to affect Southern Luzon; Shear line brings rains to Northern Luzon

Severe Tropical Storm Verbena, though outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, is expected to affect Southern Luzon, while the shear line and Northeast Monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains to Northern Luzon.

Verbena, internationally known as Koto, is located 230 kilometers north of Pag-ASA Island, Kalayaan, Palawan, with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h and gustiness up to 135 km/h.

The Kalayaan Islands will experience rains and gusty winds from Verbena, posing a risk of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to intense rainfall, with strong winds presenting a minimal to minor threat.

The rest of Palawan can expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to Verbena's trough, also with the possibility of flash floods or landslides from moderate to heavy rains.

Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Mainland Cagayan, and Isabela will have cloudy conditions with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line, with potential for flash floods or landslides from moderate to heavy rainfall.
