Severe tropical storm Leon maintains strength, covers 22 areas in Luzon and parts of Visayas

Severe Tropical Storm "Leon" remains strong and has prompted PAGASA to maintain Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over 22 areas in Luzon and has expanded coverage to include parts of the Visayas.

As of PAGASA's 11 p.m. bulletin on Monday, October 28, 2024, the storm is maintaining its strength.

The 22 areas in Luzon under Signal No. 1 include Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Northern Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Aurora, Northern Quezon including Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, eastern Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, eastern Albay, and northeastern Sorsogon.

Additionally, Signal No. 1 has been hoisted over the eastern portion of Northern Samar and the northern portion of Eastern Samar in the Visayas.

Leon was previously located 725 km east of Echague, Isabela, with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph and gustiness of up to 125 kph, and was moving westward slowly.
