Severe Tropical Storm Crising exits PAR, may become typhoon

Severe Tropical Storm Crising (Winpha) has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, with its center located 345 km west of Itbayat, Batanes.

The storm is moving west-northwestward at 20 kph and maintained its strength with sustained winds of 100 kph and gusts up to 125 kph.

Crising may intensify into a typhoon on Sunday, July 20, as it moves toward China.

While all warnings related to Crising have been lifted, it continues to enhance the southwest monsoon.

Persistent monsoon rains are expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall in the next three days over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan, Cavite, and Batangas.

Occasional rains are forecast for Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon and Visayas due to the enhanced southwest monsoon.

Although there are no more storm surge threats, wind-driven waves may still affect low-lying coastal communities.
