Seniors no longer need purchase booklets for medicine discounts

Senior citizens in the Philippines no longer need to present purchase booklets to claim their 20% discount on medicines and medical devices.

This change is mandated by FDA Circular No. 2025-005, aligning with the Department of Health's Administrative Order No. 2024-0017.

The DOH's administrative order, issued in December last year, aims to simplify the discount process for seniors.

The FDA circular clarifies that beneficiaries only need to present their Senior Citizens' card or a valid ID, along with a prescription.

This updated policy removes the purchase booklet requirement, which was not explicitly included in the Expanded Senior Citizen Act of 2010.

The discount applies to medicines and medical devices approved by the FDA.
