A Pasig City court has allowed dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo to attend the Senate investigation into illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) on October 8.
The Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 167 granted the Senate committee's request, recognizing the Senate as a co-equal branch of the judiciary conducting the inquiry in aid of legislation.
The court also permitted the attendance of five other individuals, identified as Jamielyn Santos Cruz, Thelma Barrogo Laranan, Rita Sapnu Yturralde, Rowena Evangelista, and Rachelle Joan Malonzo Carreon.
Senator Risa Hontiveros stated that these individuals are listed as co-incorporators in the POGO hub in Bamban.
Hontiveros added that their presence in the Senate hearing could help expose the masterminds behind the crimes occurring in the POGO compound.
Previously, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino suggested that the POGO probe should focus on Guo's alleged ties to international criminal syndicates, citing an Al Jazeera documentary.
