Senate won't prioritize divorce, death penalty bills

Senate President Francis Escudero stated that bills concerning divorce and the death penalty will not be prioritized in the Senate's agenda for the third regular session of the 19th Congress.

Escudero clarified that while these bills won't be prioritized, it does not mean they will not be discussed or tackled at all.

He explained that each of the 23 senators holds individual principles and beliefs and will vote based on their conscience.

The House of Representatives had previously approved the divorce bill before the end of its second regular session, with initial reports showing 126 affirmative votes, later revised to 131.
