Senators optimistic on Teodoro, Herbosa DND, DOH appointments

Senators express high hopes for Gilbert Teodoro as the new Secretary of the Department of National Defense (DND) and Dr. Teodoro Herbosa as the new Secretary of the Department of Health (DOH).

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri lauded the appointments, stating that they address critical issues of territorial integrity and pandemic recovery, which are vital for national security and public health.

Zubiri described Teodoro as a "tried and tested" public servant who "will head the Department of Defense most capably, particularly amidst this atmosphere of brewing tensions in our waters."

Senator Grace Poe echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the appointees' expertise and experience are crucial for tackling current health challenges and safeguarding the country's territorial integrity.

Zubiri also noted that Herbosa's appointment comes at an opportune time with the Regional Specialty Centers Act having just gotten bicameral approval.

He expressed hope that Herbosa will "spearhead a truly whole-of-nation approach in the improvement of our public health services."
