Senate, House to suspend sessions due to Metro Manila ECQ

The Senate and House of Representatives will suspend plenary sessions from August 6 to August 20 in anticipation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

The Senate will suspend its hybrid plenary sessions from August 9 to August 23.

Senate President Vicente Sotto III mentioned that sessions might resume earlier than August 23 if deemed necessary.

Committee hearings may be conducted virtually to prevent employees from being exposed.

The House of Representatives will suspend office work starting August 5, holding sessions on August 3 and 4.

During the ECQ period, all meetings are mandated to be conducted via videoconferencing to curb the spread of the Delta variant.

Only essential Secretariat personnel will be permitted to work physically in the office, and all congressional offices will be closed.
