Bamban Mayor Alice Guo asks SC to stop Senate hearings

Bamban Mayor Alice Guo has asked the Supreme Court to stop the Senate from requiring her to attend legislative hearings, citing that her life, liberty, and security were put in danger.

Her lawyers filed a petition for certiorari and prohibition with an urgent plea for a temporary restraining order to annul the subpoena issued by the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality.

Guo seeks to prevent the committee from further inviting her to the hearings, citing her absence from previous sessions due to health and stress concerns.

Her lawyers have stated she has been labeled a 'spy,' 'POGO operator,' 'involved in human trafficking,' and a 'corrupt' public official.

Previously, the National Bureau of Investigation presented evidence suggesting a match between Mayor Guo's fingerprints and those of Guo Hua Ping, differing from another individual named Alice Guo.

Seven other individuals linked to Guo and illegal POGO operations were also cited in contempt for not attending Senate hearings.
