Mayor Alice Guo asks SC to nullify Senate subpoena

Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's camp has filed a petition with the Supreme Court (SC) seeking to nullify the subpoena issued by the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality.

The petition requests the SC to annul the subpoena that compels Guo to testify regarding the investigation into a raided POGO hub in Bamban.

Guo's camp argues that her constitutional rights have been repeatedly violated and that she has already been judged guilty of various crimes.

The petition also asks the court to prevent the Senate committee from further inviting or causing her appearance as a resource person.

Additionally, Guo's lawyers are seeking a temporary restraining order or preliminary injunction to stop the implementation of the subpoena and her designation as a resource person.

Senator Risa Hontiveros acknowledged the petition but reminded Guo that ignoring a subpoena has consequences and that adhering to it is not optional.
