Pia Cayetano files COC for Senate reelection

Senator Pia Cayetano has filed her certificate of candidacy to seek reelection in the 2025 national elections.

She arrived on a bicycle, riding 3.5 kilometers from the Cultural Center of the Philippines to the Manila Hotel where the Commission on Elections set the venue for the filing.

Cayetano is running under the Nacionalista Party and is part of the 12-strong senatorial slate of the Marcos administration.

Her brother, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, was present to show his support during the filing.

A reelection would ensure two members of the Cayetano family in the Senate, as Alan Peter's term does not expire until 2028.

The Cayetano family has a strong political presence in Taguig, with Pia's sister-in-law Lani as mayor and her brother Lino seeking a House seat.

Cayetano first joined the Senate in 2004, won reelection in 2010, served in the House of Representatives from 2016 to 2019, and returned to the Senate in 2019.

She is known for championing women's rights and advocating for legislation such as the Magna Carta of Women, Expanded Breastfeeding Act, and the Reproductive Health Law.
