Sen. Hontiveros discloses P18.986M net worth, backs public SALN access

Senator Risa Hontiveros disclosed her 2024 SALN, reporting a net worth of P18.986 million.

She declared business interests in Planet Dive Inc., New Rural Bank of San Leonardo (Nueva Ecija) Inc., and La Luna Corp.

Hontiveros expressed strong support for removing restrictions on public access to SALNs, deeming such limitations "unjust, unconstitutional and anti-people."

This action follows a recent memo from the Office of the Ombudsman, led by Jesus Crispin Remulla, which removed previous restrictions on accessing public officials' SALNs, although this policy does not cover the House and the Senate.

Some lawmakers in both the House and the Senate have begun publicizing their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) as the flood control scandal has shone a spotlight on legislators' wealth and ties to contractors.

While Ombudsman Boying Remulla has eased guidelines on SALN access, the policy does not cover the House and the Senate, which have a different SALN custodian.

Lawmakers have the discretion whether or not to release their SALNs, with Senators Risa Hontiveros, Vicente Sotto III, and Sherwin Gatchalian being among those who have made theirs public.
