Sen. Bong Go praises banks for accessible services during ECQ

Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go commended the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) for their commitment to keep banking services accessible and maintain reasonable lending rates during the enhanced community quarantine.

Go had previously urged banks and financial institutions to remain operational, offer grace periods for loan payments, and avoid increasing interest rates.

In response, the BAP committed to keeping their digital channels open, ensuring cash availability in branches and ATMs, and maintaining a physical branch presence for essential transactions.

The BAP also acknowledged the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas's monetary easing measures and the government's Bayanihan Act in addressing the crisis.

Senator Go emphasized the need for collective sacrifice and cooperation between the government and private sector to mitigate the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

He called for unity and mutual assistance among Filipinos, stating that together they can overcome the challenges.

Go's appeal aligns with his previous statements calling for less burden on the public during the national crisis.
