Sen. Bong Go asks GSIS for financial relief for members, pensioners

Senator Bong Go urged the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to provide financial relief to its members and pensioners amidst the COVID-19 crisis.

Go requested GSIS to waive penalties on delayed remittances, facilitate early release of pensions, and grant emergency loans to members.

He highlighted the need to support retirees, especially the elderly, in avoiding the virus and preparing for the pandemic.

Go also emphasized the importance of providing additional funds for members to care for their families during this difficult time.

GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Macasaet confirmed their readiness to release pensions early and not penalize agencies with delayed remittances, while the granting of emergency loans is under study.

Senator Go has made similar appeals to other government agencies, including the DOF and BIR for tax filing extensions and the DSWD for assistance to vulnerable sectors.

He commended the DBM and COA for their joint circular allowing compensation for contractual and job order workers during the lockdown.

Go stressed the need for government agencies to be compassionate and ensure all sectors of society are protected during the crisis.
