Sen. Bam Aquino stresses benefits of free internet law for Filipinos

Senator Bam Aquino emphasized that the full implementation of the Free Internet Access in Public Places Act will provide significant benefits to ordinary Filipinos, particularly those lacking affordable internet access.

Aquino highlighted that reliable internet is now a fundamental necessity for education, employment, and daily living.

He advocated for the availability of free WiFi in various public locations, including schools, markets, hospitals, transportation hubs, and government offices nationwide.

The senator stated that the law's purpose is to ensure all Filipinos can access the internet, viewing it as a gateway to knowledge and personal advancement.

Aquino, who was a principal sponsor and co-author of the law in 2017, stressed that the benefits should extend beyond students and teachers to include commuters, entrepreneurs, and families.

He expressed the desire to see the law implemented effectively to genuinely serve the Filipino people.
