Sara Duterte won't run for president, says one Duterte in national post

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte announced she will not run for president in the 2022 elections, stating that she and President Rodrigo Duterte agreed only one of them would run for a national position.

This decision was influenced by President Duterte's acceptance of the PDP-Laban party's nomination to run for vice president.

Senator Bong Go has been proclaimed PDP-Laban's presidential bet, leading Mayor Duterte and her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), to withdraw their support from PDP-Laban.

Despite withdrawing support from PDP-Laban, Mayor Duterte has renewed alliances with other pro-administration parties, contingent on her confirmation of a presidential bid.

Her supporter group, Ituloy ang Pagbabago Movement (IPM), downplayed her statement, with convenor Davao Occidental Governor Claude Bautista believing that her desire to serve the people is most important and that anything can still happen before the certificate of candidacy deadline.

She affirmed that her politics do not interfere with her familial relationship with her father, stating, "Iba ang trabaho, iba ang pamilya. Walang personalan."

Mayor Duterte still has until October 1 to 7 to file her certificate of candidacy.
