PDP-Laban Cusi wing nominates Go for president, Duterte for VP

The PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi officially nominated Senator Christopher "Bong" Go for president and President Rodrigo Duterte for vice president for the 2022 elections.

The party formally announced the Go-Duterte tandem during its National Convention in San Fernando City, Pampanga.

President Duterte accepted the vice presidential nomination, stating his goal is to continue his programs against criminality, particularly on illegal drugs.

Senator Go, however, reiterated his refusal to run for president, stating he is not interested and wishes to focus on his Senate duties.

Despite Go's rejection, PDP-Laban officials stated they will continue to persuade him to run and will wait until the last minute of certificate of candidacy filing.

The Cusi wing also named eight government officials as its official senatorial candidates, including Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Secretary Salvador Panelo, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Leyte Rep. Lucy Torres-Gomez, Secretary Harry Roque, Jr., Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, Chairman Greco Belgica of the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission, and Deputy Speaker and SAGIP Partylist Rep. Rodante Marcoleta.

While Bello, Panelo, Tugade, and Torres-Gomez are PDP-Laban members, Roque, Villar, Belgica, and Marcoleta are guest candidates.
