Areas under MECQ will get second tranche of cash subsidy —Roque
Qualified families in areas under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) will receive the second tranche of emergency subsidies from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed this, stating that beneficiaries in MECQ areas are included in the second round of aid distribution.
Metro Manila, Laguna, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Zambales are placed under MECQ effective May 16 to May 31, while Cebu City and Mandaue City are under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until the end of the month.
Initially, there was uncertainty regarding the inclusion of MECQ beneficiaries, with Malacañang previously stating only those in ECQ areas would receive the second tranche.
President Rodrigo Duterte had instructed Budget Secretary Wendel Avisado to realign funds to support the second phase of the SAP.
Under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, around 18 million low-income households from the informal sector are targeted to receive monthly emergency subsidies amounting to P5,000 to P8,000 for April and May.
A memorandum detailing the guidelines for the distribution of the second tranche of subsidies is still pending from the Office of the Executive Secretary.
